Launch of Ed Townsend 4 Newport East

Oh, dear. I'm really sorry. This blog has become less of a Cardiff thing and more of an "I talk about my family" thing. I promise when all us students head back to university, you'll get more CSLD-specific stuff. In the meantime, please join the Facebook group to help Ed Townsend get elected to Newport East.

Newport East is getting closer and closer to a victory. It is a long-shot, but many people are starting to suggest we can win it. A Welsh academic (apologies, his name has escaped me) has predicted we will win. Apart from Swansea West, Newport East is our second most marginal target constituency. The sitting MP is deeply unpopular (no expenses saga from this one though, to be fair!).

In the Council elections, we won the constituency by direct number of votes. In the Assembly elections, we were 875 votes behind. In the Europeans, we moved up from FOURTH behind UKIP, to come within 176 votes of winning the constituency! All the movement is onwards and upwards. Please show your support to this winning campaign.

Newport East and Swansea West will be, if we win, two of the biggest shocks for Labour in Wales. The idea that Newport could ever turn Lib Dem was, six years ago, fanciful. Now... anything could happen!
